  News from Pastor Kevin

Our Church is called together by God. We are called and charged to be a light unto the world, called to shine not the glow from our deeds and words but the gospel good news of Jesus Christ. Together we are to be about the work of the disciples which is the sharing of our gifts, our lives our very selves. We are the community of Christ and our mission, our command is to be VISIBLE witnesses. We must do this through study and prayer focused on the Word of God ~ ―To be silent does not mean to be inactive; rather it means to breathe in the will of God, to listen attentively and be ready to obey. (Dietrich Bonheoffer Meditating on the Word)

  LCY News

2012-02-16 03:32:15

2nd Timothy states, "for God has not given us a spirit of Timidity ; but of power, of love and of a sound mind." This verse en-compasses the mission of SJY. SJY endeavors to find ways to embrace the spirit of love that God has given us. We do this by serving the community in various ways. This month we will be serving breakfast to the homeless at the Ronald McDonald House. In April we will participate in building a house through Habitat for Humanity. We also strive to find ways to enhance the spirit of sound mind by utilizing creative ways to understand the bible. We do this weekly at Youth group and monthly through the prayer breakfast.

  News from Pastor Kevin

2011-12-13 01:46:10

There is something floating through the air, something mysterious and life changing. Things seem different during this time, things seem hopeful as the months and days are ripe with anticipation. There is something magical about this time of year as the weather and the leaves change, and the days get shorter. During this time we are guided by this sense of hope as we gather together for advent services and we get caught up in the Christmas spirit and make ready our homes and our lives for the promises of God. For this is the season of hope, this is the season that we celebrate God coming through and delivering on all that he has said he would do, we celebrate our coming king, we celebrate that our God has not left us or forgotten us.
